Measurement of visual acuity - Refraction of adults and children
This is the measurement of visual acuity at far and near distance as well as the assessment of the refractive capability of the eye, i.e. the detection of refractive problems such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia. It helps in the correct fitting of glasses or contact lenses.
Skiascopy
Skiascopy is an eye examination that is the most reliable way of determining the refractive problem of a child or a young person in general. The examination is performed by instilling special drops into both eyes. With these drops, the pupils of the eyes are enlarged and the ability to adapt is temporarily removed. The examination is carried out with a special instrument called retinoscope. This projects shadows into the eye which are neutralized by the doctor placing suitable lenses in front of the eye. The lenses required for this purpose are the lenses must be prescribed.
Biomicroscopy
Using a special microscope (slit lamp), the anterior parts of the eye are examined in detail: eyelids, conjunctiva, lacrimal puncta, cornea, iris, crystalline lens. It is necessary to identify eyelid lesions, traumas, inflammation and cataract.
Tonometry
Applanation tonometry is a precise method for measuring intraocular pressure (IOP) in the eye, primarily used to screen for and monitor glaucoma. Tonometry is considered a very useful examination for everyone and specifically for glaucoma patients, as medications aim for intraocular pressure decrease.
Gonioscopy
Gonioscopy is a specialised examination that consists of recording the structure of the angle formed between the cornea and the iris. It plays an important role in diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma, as it is the structure through which the aqueous humour (clear fluid that fills the anterior part of the eye) is drained, and it is also an area of therapeutic interventions in the treatment of glaucoma. In addition, gonioscopy is also necessary in cases of eye injury.
Fundoscopy (Diagnostic Lenses – Goldmann 3 - Mirror Lens)
Fundoscopy is one of main ophthalmological examinations and involves the posterior part of the eye. Usually, it requires the instillation of special eye drops achieving mydriasis of the eye pupil and ensuring complete examination of the posterior parts such as vitreous humor , retina, optic nerve ,macula etc.
Prescription through EOPYY
Prescriptions for corrective glasses, contact lenses or medication are issued, depending on the findings of the examination and the patient's needs.
